Welcome Students
If you are a student in Swansea, then there are loads of things going on at Dunvant just for you!
We have a youth housegroup that meet on Wednesdays and is aimed at Year 10 up to university age. Student lunch is available every Sunday. For those with more energy, we do touch rugby every Monday at the local rugby club: Dunvant RFC. Most weekends the youth group will be out somewhere walking, eating or drinking coffee and just generally doing life together. In the autumn we go away for the weekend as a church. Join us this Sunday - we are just 10 minutes walk from Hendrefoilan Student Village.
Join Us on Sunday
Our Sunday emphasis is on worship, the Word and being family.
Services take place in two premises located on Dunvant Road:
A fun way of learning about God and the Bible. What adults used to call Sunday School.
How Does YoYo Work?
YoYo is held on Sunday mornings, except during the holidays. Children and teachers attend the first part of the family service and leave for their YoYo classes after singing some ‘action’ songs. We have classes for different age groups with children starting on the academic year during which they have their 4th birthday and continuing up to age 14. YoYo is held in Dunvant Primary School at 11am on Sundays. For the under 4’s we also provide a Creche.
When does YoYo take place?
YoYo operates broadly to the same pattern as school terms. With the exception of the summer holidays, we may have a special event to coincide with the end of term or half-term holidays.
How do I get there?
We are happy to pick up aged 4 and above and drop off children at their home for YoYo. If you want to know more or make arrangements for the bus, contact John Davies on 01792 207492 or email at

Age Groups
Reception: children 4-5 years old
Because this age group will most likely not be reading yet, the emphasis is on activities that build knowledge through repetition, and lots of hands-on activity. Children aged 4–5 are wonderfully exuberant, active, and curious. Joyful noise is an important part of YoYo through songs, play, Bible stories, and conversations.
Years 1 & 2: (6-7 years old)
Children in this age group are active, hands-on learners. It is important to employ a variety of teaching methods, which provide opportunities for active participation and take into consideration their short attention spans and beginner-level reading and writing skills. Encounters with the Bible are through drama, storytelling, crafts, and the arts. Through active engagement with the Bible, imagination, the arts and the global Christian community, 6–7 year olds deepen their faith, their relationship to God and each other.
Years 3 & 4: (8-9 years old)
Hands-on exploration of Bible stories through arts, activities, and imagination harness the enthusiasm of this age level. Encounters with the Bible through age-appropriate activities create connections to the whole church that will last a lifetime. Materials provide global context and extend the concept of learning to home, the community, and the world. Learning together, this group enjoys games, activities, and arts experiences.
Years 5 & 6: (10-11 years old)
By using a variety of ways to explore the scriptures, Ages 10-11, brings the Bible to life and allows opportunities to explore faith and the world.
Years 7 to 9: (12-14 years old)
Encourages youth to develop their faith. This class aims to nurture young people, especially focussing on encouraging and developing spiritual disciplines such as prayer and worship.
Teachers
Many of the YoYo teachers have been involved in Sunday School work for a number of years and still manage to have bright smiling faces that make the kids feel welcomed. We are fortunate to have quite a few helpers for the teachers too to ensure a safe and happy environment.
Child Protection
We have a Child Protection Policy which is independently accredited by Churches' Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS). All our teachers have undergone an enhanced disclosure and have been vetted.
Time Out for Ladies
“Time Out for Ladies” was started a number of years ago when a group of us thought it a good idea for ladies to meet informally during the week.
It is held on the second Tuesday during the months of October – May and about 25-30 ladies come along. We start at 7.30pm with tea/coffee/biscuits/cakes, chatting amongst ourselves; catching up on all the news; then at 7.45 either a guest speaker or someone from Dunvant Christian Fellowship will speak on and usually demonstrate their hobby/interest/skill or talk on a subject that they are passionate about. During the years some of the topics covered have included:
Lace making
Greek cooking
Making love spoons
Flower arranging
Chinese cooking
Computing
Health & beauty
Millinery
Jewellery making
Quilting
Glass painting
Cake decorating
Local history
Photography
Paper making
First Aid
The use of Braille
We have also held Welsh, International and musical evenings.
“Time Out” ends with a 10 minute “thought for the month” – a short talk explaining the Christian message with a word of encouragement.
Little Wonders Toddler Group
Little Wonders is a happy friendly toddler group held on Friday Mornings for babies and children up to 4 years old.
It's and informal group where mums, dads and carers meet together, chat and relax while children enjoy a safe play environment.

Amongst the activities that take place each week:
Free play with a good range of toys including larger equipment;
A craft activity that may involving colouring, glue or play doh;
Snack time mid-morning for the children, which includes toast and fruit;
Coffee and Tea is available for adults.

Regenr8
Fridays at 8pm
The place to be on a Friday night if you are in secondary school. We try to give you the best start to the weekend that is possible in Dunvant. To make this happen we have loads of things going on each Friday between 8 - 10 pm
Crazy & Messy Games, Videos
If all that sounds a little to exhausting then there is plenty of sofas to chill out and relax in. To keep your sugar levels up we have a tuck shop selling sweets, drinks and chips. Once a term we go out on a trip, these include Ice Skating, Laser zone, BBQ’s much much more. Every year we also have a youth weekend, a chance for you to get to know people a bit better, to stay up late, and most importantly we want you to learn a bit more about God.
Our main aim at Regenr8 is to introduce you to what God did for you through His Son. We want you to develop your relationship with him and we want to equip you to be able to tell your friends about him.
We try to do this by taking time out between the games to chat about this important stuff and try to explain it as clearly as possible so you can make your own mind up. For those Christians among you we also use the time to challenge you about how you are living your life for God and what you can do for him.
We don’t just restrict our youth to a Friday night though, the youth can usually be found either at Castlemare or down a beach during the summer, or somewhere a bit warmer during the winter on a Saturday. We are very much a part of Swansea Essential (see Facebook page Essential Swansea) as well as The Stand (Facebook page The Stand South Wales) which aims to bring church youth groups together through social events and youth services.
Group 53
Wednesdays at 7.30pm
Group53 is the name and identity of the youth midweek house group at Dunvant Christian Fellowship. The house group is aimed at those in School Year 10 up to university age, roughly 14 - 21. We meet in Dunvant for three weeks out of four each month.
The main aim of Group53 is to encourage, equip and empower the young people and grow together in our relationship with God. We try and focus on being family with each other, sharing in our struggles and encouragements, praying, worshipping and doing life together.
We spend a fair chunk of time looking at the bible and what it has to say about the issues we are facing in our lives.
A typical month for Group53 consists of two weeks of studying the bible, sandwiched inbetween is what we call a family night. Family nights are completely unplanned open evenings, a chance for young people to share, pray for each other and worship together.
During the final week in the month we join together with the rest of the church for Dunvant United. A once-a-month prayer and share event for the whole church. A great time for the young people to learn from and encourage the rest of the church.
Its not only what happens on a Wednesday night though! Group53 lead the Sunday evening service once a month. From leading the worship to sharing some thoughts with the congregation it is a Sunday evening not to be missed.
Christmas time means Group53 Prom: a chance for everyone to dress up and have a meal together - it is THE social event of the year in the youth calendar! We also have a Group53 weekend once a year and do plenty of social stuff together.
Check the news and events page to see the latest updates on what's on, when and where! If you need any more info on what’s happening with youth, then please get in touch.
